Cape Fear Life Enhancement Services-Vocational Services attend training addressing recruitment, satisfaction, and motivation

Supervisors from Cape Fear Life Enhancement Services and Cape Fear Vocational Services were able to attend an online training addressing staff recruitment, satisfaction, and motivation. Ryan Aldrich, M.S., CESP™ led the training and gave the opportunity for all attending non-profits to share what has worked for them. Mr. Aldrich is a successful educator and consultant who is also on the board for (APSE – Association of People Supporting EmploymentFirst. He challenged us to break the training into segments which will be ongoing for the long term. The next training for this series will be Wednesday July 26th.

Cape Fear Vocational Services attends NC APSE Conference

Cape Fear Vocational Services staff members had the opportunity to attend the North Carolina APSE Conference at the end of March. The theme this year was “New Beginnings-New Possibilities”. The staff were able to learn, share ideas and resources. Most importantly updates were provided on legislation and how it impacts CFVS along with the people we support. This inspiring event helped us make connections with other providers that will be beneficial for the long term!
(APSE – Association of People Supporting EmploymentFirst) is the largest membership organization dedicated to the growth and expansion of supported and customized employment for persons with disabilities.

Cape Fear GH awarded $30,000 grant from Cape Fear Memorial Foundation

Cape Fear Life Enhancement Services, Inc., was pleased to announce a $30,000 grant from the Board of Directors of Cape Fear Memorial Foundation. The grant provided for the installation of 3,000 sq.feet of flooring for the main office and our Day Services program. We would like to show you the results of that grant and our beautiful new floors!

We are so grateful for this much needed update to our facility! The Grantee Reception was held Thursday November 3rd at Riverwalk Landing in Wilmington, NC.

Cape Fear Memorial Foundation is a private, non-operating foundation located in Wilmington, North Carolina. Its primary purpose is to serve the health and medical needs of the people of Southeastern North Carolina. Cape Fear Vocational Consultant Kevin Cook presents “Principles of Disability Employment” for community partners in Southeast Asia.

Cape Fear Vocational Consultant Kevin Cook made a presentation on the principles of disability employment for community partners in Southeast Asia.
The December 18th webinar was attended by Asia Pacific Center for Disability, Yayasam Autisma Indonesia, Terapeutik, Kementerian Sosial Republik Indonesia, and individuals with disabilities and their families.
The focus was on techniques for effective job coaching, strategies for successful long-term employment, and the global applicability of strong vocational principles.
Kevin coordinated with Yayasam Autisma Indonesia regarding the creation of a pre-employment training for people in Indonesia. He is also working with Yayasam to develop a collaboration between North Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation and the Indonesian government as they seek to develop a new disability employment government program.

Cape Fear GH Awarded $4,000 Grant from Landfall Foundation

Cape Fear Life Enhancement Services is happy to announce that we have been awarded a 2021 Landfall Foundation Grant in the amount of 4,000 dollars. This money will be used to purchase much needed exercise equipment for our two ICF Group Homes!

The presentation ceremony was held on Thursday, November 4 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington. CFGH Executive Director, Ed Walsh and CFGH Project Development Coordinator, Anita Ford accepted the check from Delores Rhodes, Chair of the Landfall Foundation Health & Welfare Sub Committee. We would like to also thank Linda Harootyan and Doris Chew, Co-Chairs of the Landfall Foundation Grants Committee and their team.

The Landfall Foundation was formed as a means for Landfall residents to thoughtfully and confidently extend support to greater Wilmington area non-profit organizations. Grants are awarded after our Grants Committee evaluates applications for projects and programs in the areas of the arts, education, health and welfare. CFGH is a fully licensed, not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization that operates two certified ICF-IDD group homes in Wilmington, NC. The homes are located in the Pine Valley and Greenfield Lake areas. Each home is staffed with fully trained direct support professional and serves six residents in each home.

The organization also operates a Life enhancement Center and a Supported Employment Lab on Old Eastwood Rd. Our program includes intensive training and support to assist each individual to attain their goals.
