Job Description

Cape Fear Group Homes, Inc. is currently seeking a Direct Support Professional to work with participants within our Group Homes in Wilmington, NC. The Direct Support Professional works closely with the participants to implement planned daily activities. These activities include but not limited to, assisting and transporting participants to appointments, community outings, etc. The Direct Support Professional possess strong communication skills to ensure the health and safety for each participant and will help the participants become as independent as possible with everyday life skills.
Starting salary is $16 an hour.

Requirements

  • The DSP must possess strong communication skills to ensure the health and safety for each individual served.
  • The successful candidate must be at least 18 years of age with a valid North Carolina driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer at least one year of experience providing services to special populations.

Job Description

Cape Fear Vocational Services is currently seeking employment specialists in multiple locations. Under the supervision of the Vocational Services Director or Assistant Director, employment specialists provide direct support and coaching to enable individual clients to achieve their employment goals. Starting salary is $17-18 an hour.

Requirements

  • This position requires strong communication skills in order to interact effectively with community employers and advocate for program participants. 
  • The successful candidate will have, at minimum, a high school diploma or equivalent, although a 4-year degree in human services, vocational development, or other related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in a Human Services environment preferred. Cape Fear will provide training to individuals with limited experience.
  • The employment specialist must pass health care registry, driving, and criminal background checks before commencing employment with CFVS.
  • The employment specialist must possess and retain a valid North Carolina driver’s license, provide proof of automobile insurance, and ensure vehicle is kept clean and in good operational order.

General Requirements For Employment:

  • Be 18 years of age

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass criminal background check
  • Pass Health Care Personnel Registry check
  • Pass tuberculosis testing
  • Submit to drug testing upon hire
